Adjustment Techniques

The Chiropractors at Yandina Chiropractic are proficient in a number of different chiropractic techniques. The type of adjustment we use will depend on your history, condition and personal preference.

Manual Chiropractic Adjustments

The primary technique used at Yandina Chiropractic is manual adjusting. It involves the application of a gentle yet specific thrust which aims to restore normal position, movement and function to a misaligned joint.

Manual adjustment is done by hand and is usually accompanied by an audible sound. The “cracking” sound is a gaseous release as the joint returns to an improved position and function.

The practitioners at Yandina Chiropractic have over 20 years combined experience and are highly skilled in performing these techniques gently and comfortably.

SOT

Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT) is a Chiropractic method of aligning the pelvis (sacrum) and the cranium (occiput). To do this, we use wedged shaped blocks at specific positions under the pelvis. The effects of gravity and body weight upon these blocks improves proper skeletal alignmentwhich in turn, normalises the flow of cerebro-spinal fluid (CSF). CSF acts as the circulatory system of the brain and spinal cord.

The nervous system controls our body and can only function normally when our structures are balanced and our pelvis is stable. SOT chiropractic care facilitates this balance for optimal health.

Family Care

Our focus at Yandina Chiropractic is the prevention of spinal pain and optimising the health of our patients. We take proactive steps to maintain your spinal health and general wellbeing. Regular chiropractic treatments help to restore spinal function and allow you to be at your best. But why stop there?

Shouldn’t your whole family benefit from the same positive results that you are obtaining?

Our training allows us to successfully treat people of all ages. It’s never too early or too late to start benefiting from chiropractic care.

Activator

This is a low force technique that is perfect for babies and the elderly. It involves the use of an adjusting instrument called an activator.

The activator delivers a controlled thrust to restore normal function to a joint. No audible release is heard from this painless procedure.

Drop Piece

Drop Piece Technique is a chiropractic method that utilises different sections of the adjusting table that can be lifted and dropped. The misaligned joint is placed over a lifted segment of the table and an acceleratory force is delivered by hand forcing the table segment to drop. When the segment hits the normal position on the table, the deceleration causes an adjustive force to the joint and restores its normal position and motion.

Massage Techniques

To achieve the best results, a combined treatment approach to include massage therapy is advised. Lauren is our skilled therapist who has a special interest in rehabilitating the soft tissues.

Techniques include:

  • remedial massage
  • deep tissue massage
  • swedish relaxing massage
  • myofascial release techniques
  • trigger point therapy
  • pregnancy massage
  • sinus drainage therapy, and others.
